ABOUT THE PROJECT

More Than One Moment

Broken Systems, Lost Sons began with one family’s experience following the loss of Zy'Kiquiro Lofton, a 15-year-old killed by gun violence.

In the years that followed, the family faced ongoing challenges affecting multiple siblings, including youth incarceration and one sibling being charged as an adult while still a teenager.

The documentary explores not only loss, but what happens afterward: the emotional aftermath, the impact on families and communities, and the realities many young people face growing up surrounded by violence, trauma, systemic inequality, and survival.

Through film, photography, poetry, and visual art, the project aims to create space for reflection, healing, and conversation.

Long Live Zy'Kiquiro.
